06 Aug Solo travelling…Why to give it a try??
“Don’t be scared to walk alone. Don’t be scared to like it.” John Mayer
How many times you dropped the idea of travelling to some place just because you didn’t have anyone to travel with? You might have considered travelling solo but your fears has holded you back. It’s almost normal to be afraid to travel alone. And when it’s your first time,it’s obvious.
When you tell people that you are about to go on a journey all by yourself, they start bombarding you with numerous questions…..The most common questions you’ll be asked are like: “But won’t you feel lonely?” And: “But won’t that be boring?” Or even: “But isn’t that dangerous?” Just a whole heap of queries starting with ‘but…’
Many people will be more skeptical than supportive, but don’t forget it is your decision. Traveling alone clearly means one step further out of that comfort zone that we all rely on so much. It’s not as scary as you think. All of the worries and misgivings you initially had will disappear the moment you reach your destination.
Here are few of the reasons, why you should give it a try.
1.Traveling solo doesn’t mean you would be lonely, it mean you would have complete freedom.
When you travel with someone else, there’s always some kind of compromise you have to make during the trip. But when you travel alone, you get to do exactly what you want every time. You will have the flexibility to plan your entire trip the way you feel comfortable without having to worry about someone else’s desires.
2.You will gain confidence and never return the way you left
Traveling alone can certainly be scary. But,it renews your spirit in the most positive way. It changes your energy, your perspective of the world, the way you view others and the way you view yourself.
When you get to your destination, navigate the streets, find your hotel, make yourself understood despite a language barrier, and book a day tour all on your own in a foreign land, something starts to change. You suddenly realize you can do things on your own. When you accomplish the task, you become a bit more fearless and more confident in your abilities to figure things out on your own.
3.Leaving your comfort zone is good for you.
Traveling solo gives you the kind of healthy push you need to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. You learn to embrace being around unfamiliar places, people and all of the challenges that will present itself on the road.
4.There’s so much to learn about the world.
Seeing and exploring some of the most beautiful places will leave you speechless. Experiencing different cultures and ways of life that make each place so special is a unique experience within itself.
5.Spending time alone helps you get to know yourself better.
The best relationship you can have is the one you have with yourself. Traveling solo gives you the time you need to slow down, reflect and spend that quality time with yourself that you may often miss when you’re caught up in the day-to-day life back home.
Always remember that it’s okay to be afraid to travel alone. But don’t let that fear stop you from booking a ticket and travelling. There’s a big exciting world out there waiting to be explored. Start small to ease your way in.You’ll meet interesting people, you’ll have loads of flexibility, and best of all you’ll gain a huge amount of confidence.
Traveling is an addiction in and of itself. You will more than likely want to travel solo again.
